There should be no issue with using the Check for Updates method, but as you said that often requires a user to be signed-in to their account except for Windows, which does allow you to check for updates by right-clicking the icon on the taskbar.

  Zoom bit came out first if I recall correctly and Zoom bit came out a bit later. I have used both and use Zoom bit now on my two. It does not matter as both versions will be able to run on your PC as there is no functional difference between the 32bit and 64bit releases as.
